Welcome to RitualOS Documentation
Complete documentation for the RitualOS ecosystem - a digital civilization platform
Welcome to RitualOS
RitualOS is a sovereign digital system designed to coordinate identity, action, value, and meaning across interconnected domains. It's not a game, not a social network, and not a marketplace—it's an operating system for ritualized participation.
What is RitualOS?
RitualOS is a civilization simulation platform built on the principle that digital identity should be meaningful, actions should have consequences, and culture should be preserved. It combines:
- Identity-Based Governance: Your reputation and credentials matter, not your tokens
- Action-Incentive Systems: Complete quests and activities to earn XP and Gold
- Cultural Memory: Preserve your stories and contributions in the Scroll
- Work Coordination: Find meaningful work through guilds and organizations
- Spatial Social Experiences: Gather in 3D spaces for events and community
Core Principles
1. Identity is Sovereign
Every user has exactly one canonical identity, issued and governed exclusively by the Identity Layer. Houses, Archetypes, and Credentials are discovered or attested, never arbitrarily assigned.
2. Authority is Centralized
All state-changing actions must be authorized through the canonical API service. No application may directly mutate system state.
3. Memory is Immutable
The Ledger is append-only. It records facts, not opinions. What is written cannot be unwritten.
4. Meaning Precedes Metrics
Cultural expression is protected from optimization and extraction. Incentives reinforce behavior, they don't replace meaning.

The RitualOS ecosystem consists of eight interconnected services:
